How to Search an MLS system
MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service. For the you, the property buyer, your local MLS provides a way for you to search the available properties on the market in your area.
The first step in searching MLS listings is to figure out which MLS you need to search. Click Here for a list of MLS's in North and South Carolina.
If you cannot locate an MLS close to you in our list, you will need to search using Google.
All you need to do is type in your location followed by 'MLS' and you should find your local MLS within the first few results.
Be careful, sometimes the name of the MLS can vary a little like in the above example.
If this this becomes too confusing simply give us a call and we can direct you to the correct MLS.
After you get to the correct MLS site, click on the menu option to search listings. Sometimes this option will be in a sub-menu.
When you click on search properties, you will be taken to a search form with many different fields. A good strategy is to be as specific as possible at first and if you don't like any of the results, start making your search more general.
This will allow you to see more results while still staying as close as possible to what you are looking for.
Make sure to select to search Land. This is usually called Land and Lots or Land and Farms.
The search form for land will be different from the search for houses. Also, the fields may be different depending on which MLS you are using.
After you have entered your search criteria, you will be taken to a list of results.
Click on view details to be shown a detailed report on the property.
The detailed report will include various pieces of information about the property. Along with this information, you may see a photo of the listing agent and their contact information. You are free to contact the listing agent, however, you may not receive proper representation if you do.
